Monopoly is coming out with a 'World Version' and they are letting people vote for their favorite cities online. A post on the ONE blog pointed out that "of all the possible cities, none are in countries classified as low-income."
So, what can you do? You can submit a write-in ballot in the form of a wildcard city. I have chosen to submit 'Nairobi, Nairobi, KE' as my wildcard city. You can only submit a wildcard ballot once a day. So, I plan to submit Nairobi every day through the end of the contest.
The goal would be to get Nairobi into the top 20 wildcard cities by February 28. Then, there is a voting period for just the wildcard cities to determine which two of the top 20 make it onto board.
So, why don't you go to the site and vote for Nairobi, too.

i support shannon's viral movement for nairobi
i just voted
OK, I have to play the devil's advocate here. Why should they be lifted up and take the spot of one of the well deserving cities that has its act together? I just have a problem with pulling for the underdog for the simple reason that they are in fact the underdog. Besides, the cities on Monopoly should be places that you want to buy; that's part of the game. I've been to Port-au-Prince and you couldn't pay me to go back. I imagine Nairobi isn't much different.
(Please still speak to me Shannon!) :)
I've got to agree with Erin. For fun, let's say that a poor city makes it onto the board. The relative rent for the board would be near 0 and it would suck to own it in the game... That's bad advertising, not good.
While I'm at it. The only reason you'd want a poor country on the board is if Monopoly was extended to include some form of labor costs, where everybody would want the poor country for the cheap wages.
The two wild card cities are going to be the lowest/cheapest on the board anyhow. If you look at the current list of top twenty wildcards it includes some pretty big cities that people love to go to.
I think your logic is different than mine, and therefore inherently flawed. Just kidding.
What does it mean to be 'more deserving'?
This is pretty funny. I didn't think of this until now, but I'm asking you to vote for a country where very few copies of Monopoly will ever be sold. Maybe that's what it means to be more deserving; A country where people will buy and play monopoly.
i didn't realize the republican party infiltrated the monopoly world
yes....that was an intentionally controversial comment
