I don't think I know enough about all the candidates to weigh in with my pick for the presidency. I will say that I like the way Ron Paul talks, but I don't think he will ever get elected because he doesn't play by the political rules.
I just read an interesting post that I thought I would share. It comes from Greg Boyd's blog. Greg Boyd is the author of Myth of a Christian Nation. To give you an idea of what the book is about, the subtitle is "How the Quest for Political Power Is Destroying the Church". It's one of the books I've half read. It may be the next one I pick up after I finish Change the World.
Boyd weighs in on Huckabee's comments that we need to amend the constitution to bring it into conformity with "God's standards." It's a good read. Don't just read the first half, get pissed because he bashes the evangelical candidate, and quit reading. The end is probably the part most worth reading.
Thoughts?
Props to Dan. I saw this on his blog first.

I'm very happy that you have made that article more visible to others. Not only do I share the authors frustration about 'evangelical' politicians trying to use the bible as a justification for why gay marriage is bad, but he write it more eloquently then I ever could. Greg was kind in his description of the things that the bible permits that we could consider outrageous. The message that I hope spreads the most is how easily your actions (be it about gay marriage or evolution) make not just you, but more importantly religion you are representing look bad.
Yes, very interesting thought by Boyd. It is disturbing that Huckabee wants to change the Constitution to fit God's standards... as if we are a Christian Nation... we are NOT!!
And, isn't part of the Christian faith about choice to follow the teachings and life of Jesus and not about legalism and following the letter of the law, isn't what Jesus got so upset about that the Jewish people were making the laws too constricting and binding so that in some way they could attain the kingdom of God without truly understanding what God's word intended for people...
freedom, choice, conviction, faith, hope, love, service, sacrifice, compassion...
